I can add the two SharePoint Online List data sources with no problem. However, when I go into Transform Data & try to merge them I get the error "We couldn't authenticate with the credentials provided. Please try again." I click Edit Credentials and login again, fails again. When I try to login to my Microsoft account I get the following error:

The two lists are from the same SharePoint site, have the most recent version & I was using Organizational privacy level. Another user in my department got it working - discovered that PBI automatically merges some hidden tables (User list, etc) into our lists. If we removed those merges & then attempted our merge again everything works fine.

Thank you for your feedback. This is very helpful.

Are these two lists from the same SharePoint site? Which privacy level do you select when merging the queries? Based on my test, I can merge two queries successfully. I tested this with two queries from the same SharePoint site and selected Organizational for privacy levels. Try clearing the credentials and connecting to both lists again. And ensure to upgrate Power BI Desktop to the latest version.
Let me know if this problem still occurs.
