I have several data source on sharepoint (mostly excel files).
I changed my windows password today and it's now impossible to connect to these sources (or any files on sharepoint)
When ask to connect to the source, I select professionnal account (as usual) click on "connection" so it can connect to sharepoint and I got this message
"Désolé nous ne pouvons pas établir la connexion. Supprimez vos informations d'identification et réessayez ultérieurement"
Which roughly translate as :
"Sorry, we cannot connect you. Delete your ID information and retry to connect latter"
Does anyone has any idea on what to do (and where I can delete my ID information) ?
Solved! Go to Solution.
I deleted all the one in the "global permission" tab
The one in "data source in current file" refused to be deleted unless I delete the query (I tried, which is also why I tried it with a new blank PBI...)
I tried it, the result is the same
I get back to the connection page, go to prefessional account (compte professionel). It say "you are not connected" (vous n'êtes pas connecté), so I click on connect (connexion)
It tries to connect for hal a second then give me the same message "Sorry, we cannot connect you. Delete your ID information and retry to connect latter" ("Désolé nous ne pouvons pas établir la connexion. Supprimez vos informations d'identification et réessayez ultérieurement")
I get the same result even If I create a new power bi file and try to connect to any sharepoint file
(I'm starting to think it's a sharepoint/windows issue following my password change this morning)
Please see if you have deleted all connections of this domain. Even one left out will create the issue.
Follow up : I deleted all connexion I could
I even uninstalled/reinsintalled power BI desktop
The issue is still here : when I click on connect on professionnal account, the windows which should allow me to connect does not appear (same issue when trying to connect to a sharepoint folder using the "microsoft account" option)
I tried to connect to the same files using power query on excel and I got the window (see below) and could connect/load the files.
I also tried to connect to a few excels on sharepoint I never connected to before and the issue is the same
I found a temporary solution (https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Suspicion-One-Power-BI-report-breaks-Microsoft-authenticatio... ) by changing the Authentication Browser to my default Defaut Browser
Hello,
I have the exact same problem as you... I also changed my password recently and since then, cannot update my data due to a connection error with the data source (which was working perfectly fine before).
I also get the exact same error message when i click on "connexion' ('sorry, we cannot establish connection. Delete your authentification info and try back later), which makes no sense since I am actually already signed with the right account on Power BI desktop.
Did you manage to find a solution to restore connection ? or at least a workaround ?
Thank you very much,
Valentine
Problem solved ! You just have to enable this option :
Merci cela fonctionne
Yes that's the solution I also found on another thread (https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Issues/Suspicion-One-Power-BI-report-breaks-Microsoft-authenticatio...)
I got feedback from my IT department and it seems to be an issue on Microsoft side (on there edge webview app which is uses to connect to the sharepoint)
In Power BI Desktop - File - Options & Settings - Data source settings - Here, you can locate the connection and select it - Edit permissions - then you can edit / delete credentials (There are two options - Data sources in current file and Global permissions. Your connection may be in either of them) . If you choose edit, you can change your password.
Thanks for your feedback
I tried this already but it does not work
When I try to change the ID information there, I select professional account as the way to connect (as I have done for months) and I got the same message
I even create a new power BI and tried to connect to a few other sharepoint excel files and got the same result
Then delete the existing connection by choosing clear permissions.
