Hello,
I am using Open Data Kit (ODK) for data collection on Android smartphones and the data repository is ODK Aggregate. If anyone has used ODK Aggregate as a data source for Power BI I would very much appreciate your insights on how to make this link.
Thanks!
Hi all,
Founder and CEO of ODK here.
ODK Aggregate has reached end-of-life status and is no longer being updated. See https://forum.getodk.org/t/aggregate-is-no-longer-being-updated/33742 for more.
ODK Central, its replacement, has native support for Power BI (and Excel) via our OData feed. See https://docs.getodk.org/central-submissions/#connecting-to-submission-data-over-odata to learn how.
If you have any more questions, our community forum at https://forum.getodk.org/c/support/ is a great place to ask.

Hi @Brian1,
I am not familiar with ODK Aggregate, and I haven’t found any direct way to use ODK Aggregate as a data source in Power BI.
However, as other post, you can consider to export data to CSV files, and connect to CSV files from Power BI Desktop, create reports in Desktop and publish them to Power BI Service. For more details about publishing from Power BI Desktop, please review this article: https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/powerbi-desktop-upload-desktop-files/ .
Moreover, if you deployed ODK Aggregate locally on a Tomcat server backed with a MySQL or PostgreSQL database server. You are able to connect to the MySQL or PostgreSQL database from Power BI Desktop.
Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
I have used ODK in the past and am somewhat familiar with ODK Aggregate. However, I have not tried connecting data from ODK Aggregate directly into Power BI. Do you need something other than the Export to CSV/KML/JSON functionality that is built into Aggregate?
