Connecting PBI Desktop to Group Workspace Files

I am trying to create a new report in Power BI Desktop that gets data from an excel file saved in my Group Workspace Documents folder on sharepoint.  (From Bi Service I click on the elipse next to the Group Workspaces Name, and choose "Files", which takes me to a Sharepoint site for this Group Workspace where the excel file is stored)

I can connect to the file easily through BI Service because my One Drive folder for my Group Workspace shows up in the Get Data menu. How do I connect to this one drive folder in Power BI Desktop?

I have tried getting the hard link to the file by opening up the excel file and copying the link. This worked to initially connect to the file, but then once I published it to BI Service, the credentials were broken and I couldn't get it to reconnect from Service.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi @cverink,

I test your scenario and everything works well. Could you please post the full error message?

In addition, please make sure that you get the link of Excel file following the instructions in this article, and connect to the Excel file using Organizational Account in Power BI Desktop, then publish the Power BI Desktop file to Service.

Thanks,
Lydia Zhang
