Conditional Merging

If I got 2 tables: Table1 that has column: Date and Table2 that has columns: Date1 & Date2, how could I merge the 2 tables based on a condition, if today is Saturday or Sunday, so, the used column of Table2 is Date1 otherwise, it is column: Date2 to merge with, how to script this in merging step please?
