I’m encountering an issue with the Power Query Editor in O365 Excel and could use some help.
When I import web data HTML tables to be exact into my spreadsheet and go to the Power Query Editor and try to change my data source using the “Data Source Settings” button in the toolbar. This opens the Data Source Settings window. In the past (and currently on computers running older versions of Office), I’ve been able to use the “Change Source” button (bottom left) to pull different data into the sheet. However, in O365 Excel, the “Change Source” button is greyed out and not usable.
Here are a few things I’ve tried:
Has anyone else encountered this issue? Is there a known solution or workaround? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
Hi @WinLou ,
According to your description, change source is not available when you connect to the html of the web, this is because the purpose of the change source button is to facilitate changes from the same type of data source. For web source, there is no data on the web that can be read directly, but it is parsed to summarize the content on the web, so there is no case to change the data source. If you want to get information from another web page, you can change your url in the edit field of the m code.

@Anonymous What does this mean? "For web source, there is no data on the web that can be read directly, but it is parsed to summarize the content on the web, so there is no case to change the data source."
I'm able to change the website when using LTSC Professional Plus 2021.
