I continually receive "We are unable to Authenticate with credentials provided" error when trying to connect to a SQL server.
I am on VPN
I connect using the Database authentication
I have verified the Server Name, Database name, User Name and Password
I have cleared out old permissions
I am able to connect through SSMS using the same credentials and pull data
Other users can connect with these same credentials.
What is causing PBI desktop to give this error? Is there another setting that needs to be changed?

Is your SQL server expecting an encrypted connection?
Check with your a database admin about what kind of access you have.
@Anonymous I have been able to connect before so trying to figure out what has changed. No changes have been made to my permission level on the SQL side because I can successfully log into SSMS using the same credentials. I believe it is a PBI problem and not SQL.
Please indicate which Power BI Desktop version you are using.
2.99.862.0 64-bit (November 2021)
Hi @arbright57 ,
According to the official document, Tutorial: Connect to on-premises data in SQL Server - Power BI | Microsoft Docs
And please always use the latest version of Power BI.
