I have tried everything I can think of to do composite modeling.
I have May 2023 version of Power BI where I build reports. I am able to access tables through Direct Query via SQL Server, that part works fine. However, if I try to import a simple excel table it tells me its switching everything to import mode. Under the Properties, "Storage Mode" is always greyed out. I have googled and ChatGPTed and found no easy answer why it seems Power BI just doesnt want to do allow me to composite model. I know in the January 2022 version you had to go into settings and turn it on, but I have found no such setting in the May 2023 version. It just doesnt make sense to me that I can do Import, I can do Direct Query, but when I try to do both everything is denied. Please help with your suggestions! Thanks for reading this!
