Hi, I have a pbix currently populated using 3 local excel files. Im looking to set automation and publish the dashboard to eliminate the need for manual processes, the benefit will be daily refresh on the dashboard effectivelessly.
There are currently 40 tabs in PBIX each with over 5 visuals so any time spent not having to repoint data source, measures etc would be greatly appreciated.
Is there a quick way in PBI to simply switch the data source over to the new?
Many thanks in advance.
Each of the 40 tabs has nothing to do with the data connection. The data connection is per each query in Power Query and it will be one line in each query.
The challenge will be to do with the structure of the data and any differences between Excel and SQL Server.
3 Excel files may contain individual tables (which are extracts from the SQL database? - it doesn't say this in your post so I'm guessing) and it may be as simple as replacing the connection line in each query to use
Sql.Database
with appropriate parameters, instead of
Excel.Workbook
If that was the case, happy days but I suspect it won't be so straightforward.
