Automatically Refresh data with predefined queries

Hi,

I have used Power BI Desktop Queries to access and transform multiple Excel files stored locally. I have published the report and shared it within my organization. Now I want to store the source data either in SharePoint or OneDrive for Business.  How can I make sure that they are refreshed automatically with my predefined queries and without having my laptop to be online all the time?

The background is that team members should be able to change the source data having my queries automatically do the transformation.

We're using the PowerBI Premium in our organization but single users dont have the Pro Version...

Thanks in advance

Best Regards

Johannes

@johanneseuler,

When you store Excel files either in SharePoint or OneDrive for Business, after you publish PBIX file to Power BI Service, you can set schedule refresh for your dataset in Service, gateway is not required in this case, and you don't have to make laptop online all the time.

In addition, as you have created report in Power BI Desktop using local Excel files, you can change the source code from local to SharePoint/OneDrive for Business in Advanced Editor of the queries in Power BI Desktop, there is a similar thread for your reference.

Lydia
