Hello,
We currently use AroFlo as out job management system and would like to pull some data into PowerBI via the API but so far have not been able to get PBI to connect, anyone able to assist?
AroFlo API Documentation - https://apidocs.aroflo.com/
TIA
I've managed to get data in to Power BI but not via Power Query. Used their API to land the data in a cloud database and then connect Power BI to that. It meant that I could also use the database for any data manipulation and grunt prior to Power BI anyway. Loading all of your historical data is a pain because of their API limits so can take awhile depending on your situation!
Hey Rik,
Did you have any luck with this? I'm trying the same thing, but get the error - Authentication Failed - Required headers are missing
Not as yet, i have the same issues
Did you try connecting via Zapier? You can use the free trial to test it out.
I’ve given Zapier a go but keep getting the same authentication error. AroFlo suggested trying Zapier again – I just want to see if anyone else has had the same issue connecting it. I’ve been back and forth with AroFlo support, and they keep saying it’s to do with the API keys not being copied properly, but I definitely know what I’m doing there.
Update
I have the login working now but so far unable to get any data to show in Power BI.
Any tips?
Hi Rik, did you work out how to do this?
No not as yet.
I havent been able to get the login to work as yet.

Hi @RikW
You can use a Web connection to the AroFlo API in Power BI.
Make sure you have obtained the correct access and key for the AroFlo API.
In the "Basic" option, you need to enter the URL of the API.

Hi Nono,
Thank you for your reply.
I have done as you said above but get the below error.
I managed to do it in 2019 and create a custom connector for it. Aroflo uses custom security methods that don't work well with powerbi. you will need to do a bit of scripting to make it work. one way is to embed python into the code and run the pre-request scrypt in python meaning you will need to translate from JS to python or R. I've managed to do both. The other is to use the built in read from web function and pass in html that has the JS prerequest sctipt in it and have powerbi's built in headless browser do the rest with a bit of tweeking and cdns.
If you dont' understand what I'm talking about it's probably too complex for you.
It's too easy for aroflo to give you the data you need to run your business the way you want to but they refuse to do so. They want to keep your data. It's valuable to them, without it they can't keep you as a customer. They built something that does the bare minimum and they're now rent seeking landlords over your data.
Get yourself a Claude AI subscription, tell it what you want to do, paste my hints above and ask it to generate a step by step instruction html file on every step that you will need to follow to achieve what you want. It's the best investment you will make this year. I don't need the thanks but you'll thank me nontheless. I've told you more in this last paragraph than anyone can tell you in any forum.
Forums like this are now obsolete. the people that know what you want are not on here. They have better things to do than help the plebs. No offence to any of the smart people, they litterly have better things to do.
Arolfo = Kodak. Everything is shifting. Good luck.
