Dear Community,
I have a published report in the Power BI Service, the underlying data is an on-premise SQL Server, which is refreshed by a data gateway.
I've downloaded latest version of Analyze in Excel and I'm working with Office 365.
The download of the Excel file via Analyze in Excel works fine, but once I open the file and Enable Editing and Enable Content, Excel freezes. After a while, there comes a pop up window saying "Server error: The request has timed out". The model seems to be not loading, as there are no fields shown in the PivotTable Editor on the right side, so I think there is a connection issue.
Do you think this might be a firewall/network issue?
Any help is appreciated.
Best regards
Sam
When I click Ok, the Windows Azure Authentication window appears. After logging in with my credentials it freezes again.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Based on my test, could not reproduce it in my environment when analyze in excel connecting to sql server.
When you log in with Windows Azure Authentication, the credentials should be the same as that in power bi service instead of logging in Office 365.
In addition, did this report can refresh normally instead of timeout? Maybe you can set the timeout value manually following by this issue to check it whether it could refresh successfully in power bi service and analyze in excel.
