Access data from C-tree database?

The company's data is stored in C-tree database. How to build dashboards by connecting Power BI to C-tree databaase?

@Anonymous,

You can create ODBC DSN for your C-tree database with the help of Faircom driver. Then connect to the ODBC data source using ODBC connector in Power BI Desktop, create report in Desktop and publish report to Power BI Service.

In Power BI Service, you can create dashboard for your report.

Lydia

@Anonymous,

Dashboard only exists in Power BI Service. It is not possible to directly connect to ODBC data source in Power BI Service.

In addition, you can create ODBC dsn in  the Power BI Desktop machine, and then use the ODBC connector in Power BI Desktop to connect to the dsn. Just make sure that you are able to access the remote database when creating ODBC dsn in the Desktop machine.

Lydia

 Thank you Lydia.  I have two followup questions

1. Can't I create the dashboard in Power BI dashboard itself? Should I have to create the dashboard only in Power BI Service?

2. I have to access this server which stores this database remotely. Is it still possible to use the OBDC connector if the server has to be accessed remotely?
