Access Database Refresh fails with Data source Undefined Error in Power BI Service

Issue: Refresh fails for a Power BI Report that uses Access database as a Datasource

Error: Unable to connect to the data source undefined

Resolution Steps:

  • The User Credentials which are used to add the datasource under the Gateway and
     
     

    administrator of the machine where gateway running should be same as the username which is used while adding the datasource.

  • If both the user credentials are different then refresh would fail with the above error.
  • Now, to resolve this provide the read/write access to the user which is used while adding the gateway to the path C:\Users\PBIEgwService\AppData\Local\Temp should solve the problem.
  • Alternatively you can make the user (if the user is different while adding the datasource under the gateway)as an admin of the machine where gateway is running, whichever is convenient for you.
