It is not possible to directly mirror an on-premises Microsoft SQL Server database to Microsoft Fabric. The current mirroring capabilities in Fabric are limited to specific cloud-based data sources.
Microsoft Fabric currently supports mirroring from the following database sources:
• Azure SQL Database
• Azure Cosmos DB
• Snowflake
While direct mirroring is not available, there are alternative approaches to replicate data from an on-premises SQL Server to Microsoft Fabric:
1. Azure SQL Database as Intermediary:
• Set up transactional replication from on-premises SQL Server to Azure SQL Database.
• Then use Fabric’s mirroring capability to mirror the Azure SQL Database to Fabric.
Data Pipeline Approach:
• Create a data pipeline in Fabric to extract data from the on-premises SQL Server.
• Use the copy activity to transfer data to Fabric, potentially using incremental load patterns.
3. Striim’s SQL2Fabric-Mirroring Service:
• A third-party solution designed specifically for replicating on-premises SQL Server data to Microsoft Fabric.
• Utilizes Fabric Open Mirroring for real-time data replication.
If this is helpful please accept the solution and give kudos.
Thanks
Nilendra
