Loading data from SQL onPrem via DatFlowGen2 in Fabric fails with Data source credentials are missin

Dear all, 

I am trying to load data from our on Prem SQL (2014) via DataflowGen2 in Fabric. A destination was not yet set in order to make the case as simple as possible. The source is accessible via an on prem datagateway which works totally fine for Power BI refrehes. 

When being asked for the connection I add server and database. Since the combination is setup as datasource on the "Manage gateway and connections" and is succesfully used in Power BI, I chose that one. 

I save, I publish and I try to run but it fails with: 

Error Details: Error: Data source credentials are missing or invalid. Please update the connection credentials in settings, and try again..

I went ahead and reentered the credentials but the error still persists. 

Gateway version is 3000.174.13

Anybody here with a solution or same behavior?

Make sure your gateway is up-to-date. When Fabric was initially released, the existing gateway at the time wasn't able to handle Gen2 Dataflows to on-prem resources. They have since patched it so it should work now.
