Fabric Marketplace for ISVs fabric apps?

Is there going to be a fabric marketplace where ISVs can publish apps similar to Power BI's app marketplace for reports?

Ideally our app would be a collection of fabric adf pipelines, adf or notebook data processing rountines, power BI sematic model and power bi reports.  The user would be able to install it to a workspace, populate connect strings to data sources, run the ETL process which would store data to onelake and view the reports / interact with the model or leverage files from onelake.

Also, ideally the vendor could publish updates to the above pieces we own of the app (with some level of IP protection being a big plus).

Hi @BobAtSenturus

Thanks to @burakkaragoz @suparnababu8 who shared their thoughts—really great to see others thinking along the same lines about Fabric as a true app platform. It's exciting to see this level of interest from the ISV side.

Yes, Microsoft is moving toward enabling a Fabric Marketplace experience that aligns with your scenario, but it’s not fully available yet. At present, you can package Power BI reports and semantic models into a Power BI App and distribute them via AppSource or internally. You can also use Git integration (currently in Public Preview) to version control and deploy Fabric items like pipelines, notebooks, semantic models, and dataflows. Using REST APIs or PowerShell, you can automate the deployment of an entire solution stack, including workspace creation, pipeline setup, Lakehouse provisioning, and semantic model/report publishing.

Microsoft has already signaled plans to support broader solution packaging in Fabric—allowing ISVs to bundle pipelines, notebooks, models, and visuals into a deployable app. This would eventually include the ability for users to input connection strings or parameters during installation, which would make the app plug-and-play.

There’s currently no full IP protection for pipelines or notebooks, though sensitivity labels and limited protections are possible for Power BI content. Microsoft is aware of this gap and may introduce options in the future to better safeguard ISV intellectual property.

In the meantime, you can distribute your solution as a Git-based repository with a deploy script that automates setup across environments. This enables version control, controlled updates, and an experience close to what you'd expect from a marketplace app—just without the marketplace interface for now.

Your scenario—installing a bundled solution into a workspace with minimal user setup and full Fabric integration is exactly what Microsoft is building toward, so your timing and architecture plan are well aligned.

If the above information helps you, please give us a Kudos and marked the Accept as a solution.

Hi @BobAtSenturus ,

we’re building something similar and had the same question. Right now there’s no real “Fabric Marketplace” like AppSource, but here’s what we’re doing:

  • If your app includes Power BI reports/models, you can still publish it to AppSource.
  • For pipelines, notebooks, etc., we’re using Git integration to package and deploy across workspaces.
  • No built-in IP protection yet, so we’re using workspace-level access controls and separating sensitive logic.

We also heard Microsoft is working on a more complete app publishing model for Fabric, but no public ETA yet.

If my response resolved your query, kindly mark it as the Accepted Solution to assist others. Additionally, I would be grateful for a 'Kudos' if you found my response helpful.

Hi @BobAtSenturus

Yes, Microsoft ppl actevely workiing on enabling ISVs to  add their apps to the pllatform, much like how Power BI has a marketplace for apps. Although there isn't a specific Fabric Markettplace yet, Microsoft has provided several ways for independent software vendors (ISVs) to create and launch theri apps within Fabric.
