Hi,
I'm trying to create Azure DevOps - Source control (Preview) connection using Service Princiapl for authentication. I'm having an error. I've seen that it might be because of that warning: Code-Fist Artifacts feature is disabled by the admin. However, I'm checking the available options in Tenant settings (Tenant settings index - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn) and I cant' see that feature. Where does this feature has to be enabled from?
Thanks
I am seeing this message in connections and gateways, but it is not an error per se more like an informal message.
You need to make sure you are connecting with the "Azure DevOps - Source control (Preview)" connection type and that your service principal details are correct. Because I suspect that is the true source of any issues you are having.
Following this thread.
I don't see any mention of code-first artifacts in the admin portal, or in any microsoft documentation. I am the fabric administrator for my org, so I have full permissions.
@amaaiia I wonder if this is a new preview rolling out that hasn't rolled out to my region yet?
Azure DevOps - Source control (Preview) is still in Preview. I don't know if that feature is directly related to this connector so that's why we cannot see it. Anyway, I've asked my admin to check if he can see that feature in Tenant Settings.
Keep us updated.
I'm using source control in my org and we're not experiencing this.
We use both Azure DevOps and Github for source control and I have not recieved any complaints from users about this.
Are you using Service Principal for git integration? I'm not facing issues when using my Oauth personal account as authentication method. The problem is when I try to use Service Principal.
I'm using personal access tokens for Github.
FOr Azure DevOps, I am not the one directly using this (I prefer github). It is quite possible that they are only using oauth, I will see if I can confirm with the team using DevOps.
Hi @amaaiia ,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Community Forum.
Code-first Artifacts feature it's not visible in your Tenant Settings UI, this setting is typically managed by a Microsoft Fabric (Power BI) admin through below options.
1. Go to Microsoft Fabric Admin Portal or Power BI Admin Portal. Navigate to Tenant settings. Look for a section related to Code-First Artifacts, Git Integration, or Developer Settings. Enable the setting for the appropriate security groups or entire organization.
2. This setting might be hidden or only visible to Global Admins or Fabric Admins. If you're not seeing it, you may need to Contact your Microsoft 365 Global Admin or Fabric Admin. Ask them to check and enable the Code-First Artifacts feature.
I hope this information helps. Please do let us know if you have any further queries.
Regards,
Dinesh
I confirm that tenant admin can't see Code-first artifact option in Tenant settings.

Thanks for confirming that, so they're seeing the same thing I see in my tenant portal.
At this point I wanna call this a bug. The UI is referring to settings that don't exist. Have you opened a ticket with Microsoft to look into this?
