Groups are only available with Power BI Pro. Now vendors are not able to create workspace, only Microsoft engineers can do it. This change has been implemented for a while. So please check if your Power BI account satisfies.
Hi Sam,
How would one check to verify their account satisfies? Is it simply the existence of "v-" in their alias or is there somewhere in the Power BI UI that indicates a user permissions to create Group Workspaces?
Also is there any documentation about this change? Would a MS Engineer include any FTE at Microsoft (like my client, for instance), or do I need to submit a ticket to MSIT to get a group workspace created?
Thanks,
Stella
I got this message internally and haven‘t found any public documentation yet. As far as I know, you may use alias to make a distinction for the time being.
Check out the July 2025 Power BI update to learn about new features.
