Trigger Dataset update via API call

Does anyone know if it is possible to trigger a dataset refresh via API?

The schedule is pretty limited and we end up having to load multiple entries to catch an on-premise ETL milestone and this would be much easier and cause fewer data refreshes if we can just make one call a day to the dataset when the on-premise data is ready to be refreshed from.

AFAIK, there's no such a REST API, you can vote up this idea.

Alternatively, if your data is transactional, either create a dataset and add rows or consider using streaming data(preview).
