Template apps vs Apps?

I'm sorry if this question has been asked many times, but I can't find any good posts.

Is there a difference between template apps and Apps in Power BI - or is it simply the same thing?

I have developed a custom data connector, and I'm now trying to figure out if a template app/app would be a good fit to distribute content (with data loaded from the custom data connector).

hi @alexbjorlig , If you decided to go with a template app for distribution, did your app only contain a data connector or did you also have visuals included?

Ok - so I understand the differens is related to where to developer of the app is (inside or outside the organization).
