Synchronizing two fields from two tables

Hi,

I have a copy of all my tables as I'm using RSL and need to show some measures for the complete department. The model is quite simple, just duplicated.

I created the Status table so I can filter both applications tables by status but now I need to do the same but with the date of the applications. I already tried to do it as the Status table but I get this error:

I read in other post that I should use the "Advance Options" in the Synch Slicers but when I add the name of the group in both, it change one of the slices for the other one. I mean, first I have Slicer1 = Applications Date  Slicer2 = Applications NO RSL Date. When I add the name of the group it can goes to  Slicer1 = Applications Date  Slicer2 = Applications Date or viceverse depending the order I apply the name. And that is not what I need.

I have to show both slicers but to be honest, I think there should be a way to synchronize both.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

I kept looking and found the solution by reading this post:

Solved: Re: Filtering multiple Fields over multiple Tables - Microsoft Fabric Community

The reason I was getting this errorScreenshot 2025-02-18 162950.png

because the Automatic Cardinanallity was 1:1 and the direction, "Both". I did not pay attention to that detail at first but later, this did not have any sense at all as in the Applications I can have many for the same date. The original field was a timestamp so that's why it was considering it as 1:1.

How I solved it:

  1. Duplicate the field to extrat the date
  2. Delete the original field (This can be optional depending on the requirements)
  3. Use the new field to connect to the Calendar table.
  4. Make sure the direction is single

Hi @apacheco05,

Did you mean to use one slicer to effect and sync other slicer selections? AFAIK, current you can't use slicer to affect other filter selection.
If you means to sync filter effect between different report pages, you can try to use sync slicer.

Thank you, @Anonymous but no, I have done in another reports the synchronization through different pages but here, from the user perspective, doesn't make sense to filter twice the date for what it was supposed to be the same table.

As I explained, I had to make an exact copy of the tables so those werent affected by RSL but I wouldn't need the status to create the charts by status, I would have create a CALENDAR table and that would simplify everything.

According to several tutorials it seems that I can use this option to synchronize both slicers but it's changing the fields instead.
