Settings in debug custom visual cannot be changed

Hello

I'm developing a custom visual, and I have a weird problem when debugging it using the local dev server (pbiviz start)

Basically, the settings panel of the visual doesn't let me edit any settings: as soon as I change a setting it immediately reverts to the default value, without any error messages or anything else. I've captured a GIF to demonstrate the issue:

Why does this happen?

Other notes that might be useful:

  • This does NOT happen if I package the custom visual and deploy it. Only happens when using it via the local dev server using pbiviz start command
  • I'm using pbiviz 3.1.7, the custom visual is using API versione 2.6.0
  • Tested on different computers and different browsers (Edge and Chrome), same issue

Hi @Master_T,

I've both initialised a new visual project using the versions specified and ported an existing one, and can't seem to reproduce the issues you're experiencing. Do you have any code you can share that we can take a look at? It might be an issue with the way the settings are being enumerated when the visual updates. I can take a quick look if so.

Beyond that, this might be better question posed to the MS team - they regularly monitor the Custom Visuals Development Discussion forum rather than this one, although they'll probably ask the same question as above initially, so let's see if we can help you eliminate that first...

Regards,

Daniel
