Power BI Refresh with Existing PowerApps

I have an existing PowerApps that I have linked with a Power BI report. Based on research it says powerbiintegration.refresh() only work with new PowerApps. Is there anyway to refresh and update the report with the existing PowerApps. 

The data source of the PowerApps is a sharepoint online list. 

The data source of the visuals on the report is a local copy of the sharepoint online list.

You can always initiate the refresh via API calls.
