Does Power BI Embedded use Data Gateway

Does Power BI Embedded use Data Gateway in any capacity?

 

I was trying to set a refresh schedule on a report, but it said i had to update the credentials.  I go to do that and supply my windows credentials but it says its not requried...confused.  Anyhow, the options to set refresh schedule are greyed out.  The report is a SharePoint list.
