HI Team,
I want to know if data entry is possible for End users directly in power BI without using any external interface.
I mean to say , there is some data in Excel and i am retreving the data into Power BI and creating some visulizations. And every time the end user need to edit the source excel and he need to add some data there. And then we will refresh the dashboard for the update data.
So i want to understand if there is any possiblity for the end users to edit the data directly in power BI
Hello @Deelip_burla,
Could you please confirm if your query has been resolved by the provided solutions? This would be helpful for other members who may encounter similar issues.
Thank you for being part of the Microsoft Fabric Community.
Hi @Deelip_burla , You can use Power Apps for this:
Create a Power App (Canvas app) for data entry.
Embed it in Power BI using the Power Apps visual.
Connect the app to your data source.
Store a connected Excel file in OneDrive or SharePoint.
Allow users to edit the Excel data.
Power BI refreshes the report from that Excel (use scheduled refresh or Power Automate).
Regards,
Azad
The PowerApps route will result in a very bad UX, unless you use a Direct Query data source which in turn requires ALL your report users to have a PowerApps Premium license.
Hello @Deelip_burla,
We hope you're doing well. Could you please confirm whether your issue has been resolved or if you're still facing challenges? Your update will be valuable to the community and may assist others with similar concerns.
Thank you.
Hello @Deelip_burla,
Hope everything’s going great on your end. Just checking in has the issue been resolved or are you still running into problems? Sharing an update can really help others facing the same thing.
Thank you.
Hello @Deelip_burla,
Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum and thanks to @lbendlin for highlighting the concept of translytical task flows a very relevant approach in this context. To clarify and expand on this:
Power BI itself does not support direct data entry (i.e., users typing into tables or visuals inside a report). However, you can achieve this experience using a translytical task flow, which combines data entry and reporting in one interface by embedding a Power App inside your Power BI report. Please refer the following official documentation: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-apps/maker/canvas-apps/powerapps-custom-visual

Ganesh singamshetty.
