Hi see below - can i use my date selection on my line graph to filter the date slicer and not reverse? This way then going to my breakdown page i have all the information on that sleected month too.

As far as I know, the slicer is another type of filter, so we can't filter the slicer backwards by filtering the visual in Power BI. Only filters in filter fields or filters from other related slicers can impact the slicer.
Here I suggest you to filter your visual by slicer.
And if you want to sync the filter from slicer to other pages, I suggest you to use Sync Slicer option.
