Best way to stream data from MySQL

Hi! I have a MySql database that has data from IoT sensors. The Database gets new values every 5 minutes.  I'd like to see historic data (so the data must be saved) and also the changes as quickly as possible. What would be the way to connect to this database in my situation?

Thanks in advance!

@Anonymous,

Based on your requirements, I think that a Push dataset in the Power BI Service would work best, if you want to retain historical data.

For streaming data to Power BI, you will need to set up something to read changes from your database since the last run and then publish to the streaming dataset endpoint that you create. There will be some work to develop the mechanism to query/send data to Power BI from your database. Power BI does not poll for changes; it will just receive them from the sending system or service. The above article details this but here's the permlink to further down the page.

Hopefully this will help you on your way. Good luck!

Daniel
