Basic auth with web connector

Dear Sirs,

I create a verry small example to load tables from a php website with basic auth.

But the web connector does not authenticate with the php app.

This is the verry basic PHP code:

    header('WWW-Authenticate: Basic realm="My Realm"');
    header('HTTP/1.0 401 Unauthorized');
    echo 'Text to send if user hits Cancel button';

Now when I do the following the screen always comes back. I can't authenticate.

How to do this basic authentication correctly?
