If user adds Excel data to the parent Power BI Dataset, it creates a second, chained Power BI Dataset that has two connections. In this composite model you have one DirectQuery to the parent model and a connection to Excel. Whenever user perform actions on this new, chained Power BI Dataset and the report built on top, log activity points towards the chained dataset only. Therefore, usage on the parent dataset looks low. How can we track actual usage of the single parent dataset by including all the queries from the many chained datasets with their DirectQuery connections to it?
I have the same question.
