vlookup from different dataset

Hello Team,

I am taking my excel calculations to Power BI to automate and produce better visualization. I will have to do few VLOOKUPs between different sheets (different datasets here) and also have one INDEX & MATCH function to be applied. Can someone help me how do I do it? I have been trying but doesn't seem to get it.

Thanks in advance!

@Anonymous,

Could you please share sample data of your tables and post expected result here? In Power BI, you can write DAX to look up value in different tables, you can take a look at the following similar thread to get more details.

Dear Lydia,

i have managed to settle the problem using different unique code key for this round. It was necessay to make that unique key for my analysis. I just didn't know earlier that the combination was possible. But I will be trying the Lookup value function (based on the link provided by you) for another task that i will be doing. Thanks a lot for the support!

Hello @Anonymous

Now I am trying to make a unique code in both of my input files and trying to establish a relationship. Let me try that and let you know what happens. Earlier I had issue with what columns to take for unique but i got another idea yesterday which I will be trying now. Once it is done, I will let you know the result else Will let you know what is the error I face. Thanks for the link in your post, it is useful for my reference.

Hi,

You should be able to performa your lookups in Power Query by joining Tables.
