return variable that is not blank

Hi all,

I have a calculated column with 5 variables inside. Each row is satisfying only 1 variable which means other 4 return blank.

Is there an easy way to actually return only that one variable that is not empty. This calculated column is used to split the dataset in 5 categories.

Thank you!

Hey @MrMP ,

I think the best way to do that is with a SWITCH and TRUE:

myColumn =
VAR Var1 = BLANK()
VAR Var2 = BLANK()
VAR Var3 = 1
VAR Var4 = BLANK()
VAR Var5 = BLANK()

RETURN
SWITCH(
	TRUE(),
	Var1 <> Blank(), Var1,
	Var2 <> Blank(), Var2,
	Var3 <> Blank(), Var3,
	Var4 <> Blank(), Var4,
	Var5 <> Blank(), Var5
)

If you need any help please let me know.
If I answered your question I would be happy if you could mark my post as a solution ✔️ and give it a thumbs up 👍
