pass a variable from a PowerBI dashboard to an R script

So I use R to run some queries, the R script gets the data from an API endpoint that I write the query with custom filters and parameters. However, my tasks are getting repetitive and almost the same with minor changes each time. I was hoping that PowerBI desktop could enable me, to write my R script with 2 variables that are defined by the end user.

So, I want the end user to enter 2 variables and dates and area code; then I want those entries to trigger my R script and take those variables and make the API call. Get the data and display it on the dashboard.

is this even possible?

I guess that is not possible! So I am looking into power apps at the moment to see if I can archive this goal
