load excel file in workspace to power bi desktop

Hello,

in Power BI Service Workspace it is possible to load excel files. But is it also possible to load that file in Power BI Desktop?

So the Power BI Report in that Workspace would contain the data in the excel file. I didnt find a way to do that.

Hi, @Pikachu-Power 

Click the New or Get Data option in the workspace and upload the workbook file.
You can upload Excel files in the workspace and, as with other files, you can create reports in the workspace or connect the uploaded Excel dataset on the desktop and create a report.

@Pikachu-Power , if load data from excel in power bi and publish, then you need to configure on premise gateway.

You can load excel to one drive and use it from there.

In power query or data source connection you can find details

The enduser will care for the excel file but i will include it in the dataset model.

What if the enduser load the excel file in sharepoint and than in workspace? I could use it in power bi desktop and no gateway would be necessary? Or to complicated way? 🙂

If a workspace would create a teams channel it would be easier. The enduser could load his file in teams and i could include it in power bi desktop. but this is not the case so i am looking for a workaround.
