Hello all
Im trying to use the table visual to demonstrate the difference between periods, and I'm coming a bit unstuck.
For example, my visual looks something like this:
Period Transactions
1 1000
2 1500
3 2750
4 1750
I am looking for a way to add either a measure or a column (although I think it will be a measure) onto this visual that gives the following:
Period Transactions % Difference
1 1000 n/a
2 1500 50%
3 2750 83.3%
4 1750 -36.3%
As is shown, the additional metric looks at the preceding period, and calculates the % difference between the 2 figures, so between periods 1 and 2, there was a 50% uplift in transactions (500/1000 as a percentage), between periods 2 and 3, there was a 83.3% uplift in transactions (1250/1500 as a percentage), and between periods 3 and 4, there was a negative 36% drop in transactions (1000/2750 as a percentage).
Its worth noting here that periods are not a measure of time in this instance, and as such there is no date table that determines the periods.
Can anyone help with this?
Thanks in advance!
@Anonymous , a New column like
New column =
var _curr = [Transactions]
var _last = sumx(filter(Table, [period] = earlier([period])-1),[Transactions])
return
if(isblank(_last), blank(), divide(_curr-_last,_last))
a new measure
New measure =
var _curr = sum([Transactions])
var _last = sumx(filter(allselected(Table), [period] = max([period])-1),[Transactions])
return
if(isblank(_last), blank(), divide(_curr-_last,_last))
