excel

Hello

I would like to know if it is possible to have an excel file on my Windows Personal Desktop and that every time I update that file, the Power BI report published in the cloud is updated.

I've tried with Power Automate through a gateway, but I'm unable to see the updated results.

Is there a way to do it or something similar?

Thank you

Greetings.

@Syndicate_Admin Yes, it's possible to set up a process where updating an Excel file on your Windows desktop will trigger an update in your Power BI report published to the cloud. However, the Power BI Service does not directly monitor files on your local desktop for changes. You need to use some tools and workflows to enable this. I recommend you to use onedrive or sharepoint for better experience and use microsoft form or online excel to update it.

Please check on prem gateway on power bi:Power BI Gateway | Microsoft Power BI

Let me know if it works?

Hi @Syndicate_Admin ,

i recommend you, if there's no problem with that, to upload your file to onedrive, and connect your power bi to your online excel file.

I also agree with @Bibiano_Geraldo. This can help you handle data refresh issue when system is offline
