how do we handle data encryption in power bi?

We appreciate your inquiry through the Microsoft Fabric Community Forum.

Based on my understanding, Power BI prioritises data protection and provides multiple layers of encryption:

  1. All data is automatically encrypted using AES-256 with Microsoft-managed keys for data at rest.
  2. Data is always encrypted during transfer through HTTPS/TLS 1.2+ for data in transit.
  3. For Premium users who opt for Bring Your Own Key (BYOK), there is an option to manage your own encryption keys via Azure Key Vault.
  4. Additional control features, such as Row-Level Security and Sensitivity Labels, can enhance data governance and protection.
