check for role to show/hide elements

Hello dear Community,

i have done some research and  it seems there is no solution for this but still i wanted to ask before giving up on it. So i got this report with 3 roles and i want to hide or show specific Elements on my Dashboard depending on the users role. So is it possible to get the role of the user which he's assigned to and check before showing a specific View?

Thanks alot!

Hi @Anonymous,

What elements are you taliking about? Do you mean visualizations on a report page? If so, I would say it is not possible to dynamically show/hide visuals based on user roles. RLS is used to restrict data rows. Also, per my knowledge, it is not supported to get the role of the user which he's assigned to.

Hello @v-yulgu-msft,

yes i was talking about visualizations. I used RLS to hide datasets from users without permission but now my Company needs a way to hide specific visualisations based on the roles they got. Well it would be a great addition for PowerBi.

Thank's for replying and best regards,
