Hello,
I am working with the *XLSX file that has been provided to me from an external source (perhaps it's an extract from the system). The strange thing is that I can import this file to Power BI Desktop, I can refresh it in Power BI Desktop and all is well.
However, when I want to refresh it in the Power BI Service, I have the following error:
Processing error: Excel Workbook: The 'Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0' provider is not registered on the local machine. The 64-bit version of the Access Database Engine OLEDB provider may be required to read this type of file. To download the client software, visit the following site: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=285987.

What is even more strange is that when I have copied the content of this workbook (there is just one worksheet) to a new excel, it works well and I can refresh in Power BI Service without any problems...
Does anyone know what else should I check? Both files are *xlsx... Both are also pretty heavy (7MB; 17k rows, 90 columns). Nevertheless, the same content works in a new blank xlsx, but doesnt in the original dump...
thanks
Hi @Anonymous ,
When you dump the xlsx file locally, create a report through the desktop and publish it to the service. After configuring the gateway, you can refresh it in the service successfully. Is it?
If xlsx files exist in the cloud, you don't need to configure the gateway, you just need to set up credentials correctly to refresh.

Thank you for your help. I didn't mention that both "versions" of these files are saved on SharePoint, so if I understood well, there is no need for the gateway.
Moreover, the refresh in Service works with the manually created file (copy & paste from the 'system file').
Yes, if xlsx file is stored in the cloud, please configure the correct credentials to ensure that the dataset can be refreshed normally.
If the problem persists, please provide more details about the location of the data source? How to configure refresh? And the error message.
Credentials are correct, the same for the two cases mentioned above. The only difference is the excel file.
Data source (xlsx) are stored on SharePoint. I am connecting Power BI to SharePoint folder and then in the transformation steps, I am filtering only one single file.
The error message has been pasted in the first post.
Let me know what else do you need.
Hi @Anonymous ,
Unfortunately, I can't reproduce your issue.
