Hi,
I am the owner of a Power BI Dataset which has the following datasource credentials configured:
We are having problems with new Users being unable to authenticate their credentials when they install Power BI desktop and follow the "Get Data" process:
I'm not sure how to proceed with this. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete
Hi @Pete_HSINFRA ,
You can advise your users to try the following steps:
This maybe a permission/authentication error. When your user connect to his data source in an unauthorized account, the corresponding credential would be created. So he need to change credential, go to “File –> Options and Settings –> Data Source Settings”, under “Global permissions”, choose to delete the old data source connections permission and click on Edit permission in Power BI Desktop. Then try to connect to it again and check if it is successful.
Let me know the result immediately, looking forward to your reply.
Best Regards,
Henry

Hi Henry,
Unfortunately this doesn't appear to work. I cleared out all the permissions and tried to get the OData Feed again, but the same error message appeared again.
The OData Feed we are using is our Project Web App. I'm not sure if there is something I need to do to the permissions there?
The two Users we are trying to do this for, are able to see the Online Power BI with no problems at all. It's just seems when they download the PBIX file and open it in the newly installed Desktop Power BI, when we try to establish a connection to the feed, it comes up with the error I mentioned.
Pete
So I think I've gotten round one problem. As the OData Feed is coming from Project Web App, I hadn't granted the two Users "Portfolio Viewer" permissions and ticked "Access Project Server Reporting Service" under Global permissions.
Need to now resolve this subsequent error message:
Hi @Pete_HSINFRA ,
Have you disabled the option "Enable Load" ? If yes, check this table or the sample file you are using as model, if that is the case.
Or refer to solutions to similar problems, hoping to help you.

If the problem is still not resolved, please provide detailed error information and screenshoot. Looking forward to your reply.

The issues I've been having are all to do with the SharePoint permissions for the SharePoint feed (we have a double feed - PWA & a SharePoint Site with a bunch of lists capturing all sorts of data). The PWA side of things look ok, as far as I can tell. I've been given the SharePoint Administrator role this morning, after some testing with my own permissions yesterday and today, so our Power BI instance is refreshing ok, both Online & Desktop.
I tried giving the SharePoint Site permissions to one of the Users, who has a Power BI Pro licence and has installed the Desktop version.
I added the User to the Team Site Members group:
The User then followed the "Get Data" for the SharePoint Site in question. That went ok; however when we tried refreshing her Desktop instance of the report, the credentials error message came up again. All rather confusing.
The SharePoint Site in question, which contains all the data for the SharePoint feed is a classic Site (not Modern unlike nearly all the others). I don't know if that's causing some issues (strange if it were as I'm ok). Would I need to look at the individual List permissions (There are four in questions, capturing Risk, Issue, Status information and all of our Enquiries, Leads, Jobs etc)? I don't know if these are being problematic....
