Visualizing Time Data

Hi,

I want to analyze and visualize time stamps from a machine, using Power BI.

The machine is doing multiple tasks.

I want to analyze the time needed for each task.

An Excel Sheet serves as my data source. It looks like this:

Task Time Stamp
Task 1 Startdd.mm.yyyy hh:mm:ss
Task 1 End...
Task 2 Start...

I calculated the time needed in a new table in PBI.

"Intervall" contains the calculated time between two tasks.

Now i want to create a visual containing each task with the needed time.

I just tried to use a bar chart, but PBI doesnt visualize my time data, but counts the amount of "Intervall" for each task.

Can you tell me what im doing wrong?

@amitchandak  this doesnt help, it describes how to format time data in hh:mm:ss.

My Data is already formatted, the problem is the visualization doesnt work how i want it to.

yet, thank you for your reply.

Hi @Anonymous ,

Unfortunately, Power BI does not support show hh:mm:ss on Y axis .You can submit or vote an idea here: field-of-duration-type.

In addition, you can take a look at below method(convert the time format to Numeric):

Time(WholeNumber) = HOUR(MAX([Intervall]))*10000+MINUTE(MAX([Intervall]))*100+SECOND(MAX([Intervall]))

Or you can Use the R visual in https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Desktop/Show-measure-HH-MM-SS-in-y-axis/td-p/241155

Check your column summarization setting in the column tool within the data view. Set it to don't summarize.
