Using COUNTAX to filer two columns in the same table

When I attempt to use

CountPastDue = COUNTAX(FILTER('PROJECT ISSUES',[LastUpdate]>30),[LastUpdate]) || (FILTER('PROJECT ISSUES', [Status] ="(1) Active"))

I get the error "The expression refers to multiple columns... cannot be converted to a scalar value"

@jimneal you have to combine filters into one and then give expression what you want to count on, here is doc
