Hi, can someone please explain why Power BI Desktop has as number of differences in what I can see on the screen?
I have 2 laptops, both have the same version details in the 'About', e.g build number etc...However, on the actual screen there are a number of differences.
1. There is still a 'Visualisations' pane with formatting features underneath. Whilst on the other laptop, it is called 'Build' and the formatting options appear in a separate pane.
2. One laptop has a vertical row of icons to the right of the 'Build' pane - Date, Build, Format etc. The laptop with the 'Visualisations' pane does not have this.
3. The laptop that has 'Build' instead of visualisations has more options in the 'Options & settings'.
There are few more, but these are some that have been brought up by clients.
It's worth saying, that I also have a Pro License on one laptop. However, I am not using this one, I am only using the desktop version. Well, at least I think I am. In the versions that have the differences, neither show my 'Workspace' so am assuming they are both the free Desktop version... please correct me if I'm wrong.
Thanks in advance

Hi @Nettie01 -The differences you're observing in Power BI Desktop on your two laptops, despite them having the same version and build number, can be attributed to the "Preview Features" settings. Power BI Desktop regularly introduces new features and updates, some of which are available as "Preview Features" before they are fully released.
This difference is probably due to the new "Modern visual tooltips" and "Updated Visuals Pane" preview features. When enabled, these features split the formatting options into a separate pane and rename 'Visualisations' to 'Build'.
Open Power BI Desktop.
Go to File >> Options and settings >> Options.
Under Preview features, ensure the following features are consistent:
Modern visual tooltips
Updated Visuals Pane
Any other feature that seems related to the differences you're seeing.
By aligning these settings, you should be able to make the interfaces and available options consistent across both laptops.
