User Selects Paramaters

Is there any type of visual that can be used where the users can decide what paramaters are included in the visual. Basically they can select what data is presented.

Does anything like this exist in BI?

Yes, Power BI offers several ways to create visuals that allow users to select parameters and dynamically control the data displayed.

Here are some options:

• Slicer Visual:
  • What it does: Slicers act as filters that users can interact with to control the data shown in the visuals.
  • Usage: You can add slicers to allow users to filter by dimensions like date, category, region, or any other field you want them to have control over.
  • Dynamic Update: When a user selects a value in the slicer, all visuals connected to that field update accordingly.
• Parameter Field (What-If Parameter):
  • What it does: Power BI allows you to create a "What-If Parameter" that users can interact with using a slider or a dropdown menu. It’s great for dynamic scenarios, such as adjusting forecast periods or changing measures.
  • Usage: Go to Modeling > New Parameter and set up the parameter with a range and increment. You can then use this parameter in DAX formulas to dynamically control visuals.
  • Dynamic Update: Users can adjust the parameter values, and visuals will update based on the chosen input.
• Field Parameters (Dynamic Measures and Dimensions):
  • What it does: Field parameters allow users to toggle between different measures or dimensions within the same visual.
    
  • Usage: Go to Modeling > New Parameter > Fields. You can add different fields (measures or dimensions) that users can select to control what’s shown in the visual. This feature is especially useful for creating a single visual that can switch between, for example, sales by region, product category, or time period based on user selection.

Some of my paramaters will containg a lot of text so not sure which visual might be most suited to displaying a lot of text?
