Unable to Change Data Source from SQL Server to Snowflake in Power BI

Hello everyone,

I have a Power BI report that was originally connected to a SQL Server database. However, the database has now changed to Snowflake, and I need to update the data source in my Power BI file.

I've added the Snowflake connection details, but when I try to change the data source in Power BI, the option to change it is greyed out.

Additionally, I've noticed that fields like IXN_SUBHOUR_DATE and UPDATE_DATE, which are supposed to be of type Date & Time, were imported as text data type from Snowflake. I've already transformed these fields to Date & Time in the Power Query Editor.

Does anyone have any insights on how to resolve this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

  • manoj_0911 , What I usually do is create a new connection in a separate query and try to have data in the same stage as the previous query, then carefully go and replace the code in the original query. Make sure step names are matching in the next step

    example

Change Connection from One source type to another Source Type: https://youtu.be/nwYJgG2hmd0
