Text field values showing single case for different case (upper, lower, mixed case text fields)
recently seeing this issue, not sure if anyone has noticed this. for example I have a text field called version with same value, but with different case like all word with lower case, upper case, mixed case when data gets loaded, I see single record instead of 3 different records. see below screenshot, this is showing for all any see below table view, see below Power Query all above screenshots behaving differently. I haven't seen this behavior recently..Share your thoughts on the New Power Query experience in Power BI Desktop (Preview)
Update (September 2026): The new Power Query experience in Power BI Desktop now includes both Get Data and Power Query Editor in preview. When we opened this thread in May, the preview focused on Get Data and the new editor was still ahead of us. You can now try the redesigned editor too, and we'd love your feedback on the full experience. We're working toward a more consistent, accessible, and streamlined way to prepare data across Power BI Desktop and other Power Query experiences. The preview now covers: Get Data: Discover data sources, use recent connections or the OneLake catalog, and start a connection in the redesigned flow. Power Query Editor: Shape your data using the ribbon, Queries pane, data preview, and Applied steps. You can also explore schema and diagram views, and edit M in the formula bar or Advanced Editor. How to try it: In Power BI Desktop, go to File > Options and settings > Options > Preview features, select New Power Query experience, and choose OK. The same preview setting enables both Get Data and the new editor. Select Transform data on the Home tab to open Power Query Editor. It's still a preview. Some connectors and workflows use the legacy experience, and there are known limitations in both Get Data and the editor. If a limitation blocks your work in Desktop, you can clear the New Power Query experience preview checkbox to return to the legacy experience; no restart is needed. The limitations article explains specific gaps and workarounds, including where that fallback applies. Data Explorer glitched on scroll
Good afternoon, everyone! I've been experiencing some issues with the Data pane in Power BI Desktop. Whenever I scroll up or down, the panel glitches, causing the list of tables and fields to freeze or stop updating visually. I've already tried repairing the installation, reinstalling Power BI Desktop, updating to the latest version, and updating my graphics drivers, but none of these attempts have resolved the issue. Has anyone experienced something similar or found a solution? I've attached a video demonstrating the issue. In the video, I first scroll up, wait for the glitch to disappear, and then scroll down. As you can see, the problem persists in both directions. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
PBIP project format with Git: how do you handle merge conflicts in model and report definitions?
Hi everyone, Our team has started saving Power BI Desktop work as PBIP projects (TMDL for the model, PBIR for the report) so that everything lives in Git. The structure looks like this: Sales.SemanticModel/ definition/ tables/Sales.tmdl relationships.tmdl Sales.Report/ definition/ pages/ report.json Two people editing different measures in the same table file works well, but we hit conflicts when both of us touch the same page or when Desktop reorders properties on save. Questions What branching and merge strategy has worked for you with PBIP (short-lived feature branches, one owner per page, or something else)? Do you add any ignore rules or normalization, for example for cache and local settings files, to keep diffs clean? How do you review report-level changes in a pull request when the PBIR files are large? I would also like to hear whether you validate the project in a pipeline before merging. Hi folks; I'm with 'Version: 2.159.883.0 64-bit (October, 2026)' and recently not able to save changes on 'Current File'. For example on this attached screenshot 'Hide the visual header in reading view' was checked by default. If i deselect it and then click 'Save' the change is not happening. Does anyone have similar issue? or is there something wrong with my settings? Thanks
[powerbi update issue] SAP BW parameter/variable input UI missing in "Added Items" step settings
Hi 😞, I'm running into a blocking issue with the new Power BI Desktop query editor experience (currently in preview), and I'd appreciate either a workaround or confirmation that this is a known gap. Environment Power BI Desktop, latest release New Query editor experience: enabled (Options → Preview features) Source: SAP Business Warehouse (SAP BW Application Server / Message Server connector) What worked before In the previous (classic) query editor, when connecting to an SAP BW source, I could select the "Added Items" step and the step settings pane would expose an input area where I could enter BW selection criteria / variable values (query variables, input-ready filters) directly through the UI. This was the normal way my team applied BW prompt values before loading data. What happens now After switching to the new query experience, that input area is simply gone. Selecting the Added Items step no longer shows any field for entering BW selection criteria, and I can't find an equivalent control anywhere else in the new editor — not in the step settings pane, not in the navigator, not in a context menu. As far as I can tell, the only remaining option is to hand-edit the M code (e.g., editing the SapBusinessWarehouse.Cube / navigation and Cube.ApplyParameter calls manually). For a feature that previously had a working UI, that's a significant regression in day-to-day usability — especially for report authors on my team who are not comfortable writing M. My questions Has this UI been relocated or renamed in the new query editor, and I'm simply failing to find it? If so, could someone point me to the exact path? If it has not been implemented yet, is SAP BW selection criteria / variable input on the roadmap for the new query experience before it reaches general availability? In the meantime, is hand-written Cube.ApplyParameter the officially recommended approach, or is there another supported path? For now I can keep the preview feature turned off and stay on the classic editor, so this isn't urgent. But once the new experience becomes the default, this would meaningfully degrade the Power BI workflow for anyone working with SAP BW — so I'd really like to know whether a fix or replacement UI is planned. I have a dataset in power bi service and it already has a CSV file data on it( no gateway connect) , now I need to import a second csv file to it , but it keeps on asking for me to build a connection gateway when I try to upload a file from my local machine, can we do it without creating a gateway ?
