Time Intelligence Issue

I've been working at this issue for a couple weeks now and can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Hoping someone can help me out.

I have a couple issues with time intelligence that I think are all related.

  • Stuff falls apart when I try use columns from my data table other than the actual Date column e.g. Year, Month, Week
  • Can't compare cumulative totals from different years
  • Power BI doesn't seem to recognize the other columns in my date table are date related

Here is an example. The first is from a file I downloaded where everything seems to work as it should. And the second is from my own report where it is broken.

Right Month Order

Wrong Month Order

For more context, I copied the right date table and pasted it into my report.

Is their a simple setting I can change? Do I need to transform the columns?

Thanks for your help!

Hey,

for the sorting problem:

under --> Modeling --> sort by Column you have to choose a numeric increasing column by month.

For the other questions: deliver an example pbix file. Otherwise it is hard to verify

Greetings.

That helps a lot.

I'll add more to this topic if I can find a good example of my other problems.

Happy New Year!
