This step results in a query that is not supported in DirectQuery Mode

I am simply attempting to add a new column created from my DateTime Column as a Time column.  However, when I do this I get the above error.  I can create other columns, just not time.

Is there a workaroudn for this? Or why does this error occur?  I am using DirectQuery to SQL Server.

Is there a rhyme or reason to what is supported and what isn't?  There are plenty of modifications that are done via directquery that work.  Just not creating a Time column...

@Clampazzo , Direct query support only limited functions which can be folded to the source. what you are trying is not supported
