Table does not show up in Query Editor

Hello everyone!

I am not advanced user of Power BI and have some problem.

In the data view I created new table with the column that combines distinct value from the 2 columns from other tables. The formula is Table = DISTINCT(UNION(VALUES(etc...

Then I want to edit it in query editor. However, when the editor window opens I cannot see this table in the list. Could you please explain why? And how can I make it appear there?

Thanks!

Hello @Anonymous

The simple answer is that calculated tables created with DAX (in the data view) are not visible in the Query Editor (Power Query).

You may load tables via Power Query, and then, once loaded, add calculated columns or create further tables referring to those tables with DAX, but not the other way around.

Your only option really is to create your "union" table in Power Query, using functions like Table.Distinct and Table.Combine, then you will be able to edit it further in the Query Editor.

Owen
