Table / Matrix Visual Customization for better visiblity

Hi Power BI Community,

I need help with formatting a Matrix/Table visual in Power BI for better readability.
Currently, my visual looks cluttered, but my manager wants it to look similar to the Excel format shown below:

In this case you need to change the layout of your matrix and  on the layout chose tabular mode:

Hi @GanesaMoorthyGM, a couple notes on your current table:

• Less is more. the current color choices are quite distracting and make it very difficult to absorb any information. Reduce the amounts of colors to the absolute minimum required to get any information across.
  • I would recommend to change the alternating row colors to white + a very pale gray (potentially even paler than the default alternating gray Power BI is set to, or the lightest hint of blue if that's required due to your corporate design guide). Depending on the number of rows you might even want to consider turning off the alternating colors completely.
  • Only use conditional formatting to highlight rows where you really want to point out rows that require action in some form and consider the color contrast of your background vs font-color. It might not be required but I'd recommend to aim for a ratio of 4.5:1 (= WCAG AA). It's amazing how much less a correct color ratio strains your eyes! You can check your color ratio with sites like this one https://webaim.org/resources/contrastchecker/ 
• Change the visual to a Matrix, set LocationCode, FiscalYearcode and monthName as "Rows", Cluster as "Columns" and your Measures (Stock Qty, Stock WT, Stock Value [...]) as "Values".

You need to place the Cluster in the columns of the matrix this will make the levels has you need  so you will get the location and years on the rows and the measure will be split by the different columns.

Hi @MFelix , Thank You for you r resonse. I already tried this is matrix but still my requirement is not matched.


So you can see here that Month and FiscalYearcode are within Location but i want them like this

Hi Mr @MFelix . I need one more help from you.

You can see here it is showing subtotal within like april and its subtotal so this makes the readability and visibility confusion to the user. Is there anyway to remove that subtotal?

You can handle subtotals in the options and you can define to what level you need them you have it for rows and for columns:

You can select each of the levels and then turn it off has needed.
